Dr. Pellinore Warthrop - doctor of aberrant biology
Aberrant Biology: Aberrant biology studies life that strays far from accepted norms. Biology does not recognise the aberration type per se. Members of this type do, however, readily admit of study by the intripid biologistas instances of aberrant biology. Instances of abnormal anatomy or of abnormal physiology that tend towards the bizarre end of the spectrum can easily end up being treated as instance of aberrant biology. In truth, there is no agreed upon definition of the parameters of the field and there are few biologists working in it.

"This man who keeps you... this-what did you call him? Doctor of 'aberrant biology'? He is not a religious man?"
"I don't think many doctors of aberrant biology are," I answered. I remembered his words the day before he abandoned me:
'There is something in us that longs for the indescribable, the unattainable, the thing that cannot be seen.'

"The pleasure has been entirely mine, Dr. Warthrop," replied Conan Doyle earnestly. "Touie will not believe the story I have to tell her!"
"I would not divulge too much," cautioned the doctor, his dark eyes twinkling. "She will think you've been drinking."
"The feeling is not so different," admitted the author. "I don't know if you're a spiritual man, but-"
"Not often," said the monstrumologist, urging Conan Doyle to the lobby doors. "Hardly ever. No-just once. I was three or four, and my mother caught me deep in a conversation with God." He shrugged. "I have no memory of it. God might."
