Vision in Silver by Anne Bishop
I absolutely adore this series! I think it's one of the most unique original UF series out there. (The Others and Downside Ghosts, probably the two most original, imo.) I've said it before, in past reviews for these books, but I'm going to say it again: I think it is awesome that Briggs has written her shifters to hold the power! I love that humans are prey and The Others control the land that the humans live on.
But what stands out over and over is the fact that the author isn't afraid to allow her shifters, or all of The Others, to act like they aren't human. The Crowgard, even in their human form, act and think like Crows. The Wolfgard act and think like Wolves. Simon reacts to things the way an animal would react, his mind thinks about things the way you imagine an animal would. And yet, somehow it doesn't make the story strange at all. I still ache for Simon to realize that he's in love with Meg.
I also loved, in this story in particular, that the characters that were previously side characters are taking more of an important role in the story.
I eagerly anticipate every single installment of this series. No, that's putting it mildly, I stalk the release of these books. So amazing.
