Smokin' Seventeen: A Stephanie Plum Novel (Stephanie Plum Novels)

Smokin' Seventeen - Janet Evanovich

I am starting to be disappointed every time I read on of these books.

I love Ranger, and I love the characters but it seems like that just lack an honest plot with substance.

In book one some serious stuff happened, the villain was legitimate and this made the funny parts even better because they were sudden and perfectly timed.

But lately this series has started to become 100% slapstick. Every character is a clown and every villain is a joke. The funny parts are only mildly funny because everything just seems way to over the top. And the worst part, we wait for ever for more Ranger and Steph love, but when it comes we are completely gypped. I understand that Evanovich doesn't write sex scenes but we get more heat in past books when Ranger just said 'Babe' with the right inflection.

I'm sad, this series was great.
