Chasing Magic (Downside Ghosts Series #5)
This took me FOOOREVER to read! That in no way is a reflection of how good this book was, because not being able to read it was KILLING me. Darn vacations and new school years!
Um, what can I say about this book I haven't said before. Well, I really love Terrible. If I've said that before, it should be said again. He's amazing. Heartstopping.
My heart breaks for Chess even more with every book I read. Her self loathing just rips at your gut. Her addictions are getting more and more unbearable to read, but you can't stop. At the same time you feel her getting closer and closer to that breakthrough when she realizes she no longer needs it.
There were a few things that upset me, but they weren't about the writing or the plotting or anything technical. It was about character disappointment, their actions let me down. They let me down FOR Chess, because she needs people to just stay on her side no matter what mistakes she's made. She's a damaged woman. The worst part is that this person knows Chess's history. He knows what she went through before the Church saved her. If anyone should be more understanding of her indescretions it should have been this person.
I just hold out hope for a happy ending for Chess and Terrible. Hell, I hold out hope for a happy ending for Lex too. And I'm holding on tightly to my anticipation of the next installment of the Downside Ghost series!
