One Foot in the Grave (Night Huntress Series #2)

One Foot in the Grave - Jeaniene Frost Ah, the conundrum of why Goodreads doesn't have half-star ratings...I liked this book. I liked this book less then I liked Halfway to the Grave. (Book one, solid 4 stars; Book 2, 3.5 stars)First, this book lacked the humor of the first book and that (plus Bones) is what I loved about it. It tried, at times I maybe smiled, but there were no laugh out loud moments. Second, Cat has become an alcoholic. In the first book she enjoyed her Gin and Tonic's, fine. In the second book, whenever stress hit the fan she was reaching for a Barrel of Gin and pouring it over herself. People should have said something. BONES should have said something. Can I just add... Jeaniene Frost HAS to be a Buffy fan! There is no way she pulled Bones out of nothing. Long leather trench, close cropped curling platinum blonde hair, British! She is absolutely positively describing Spike! So anyway, in closing, I'm going to continue reading this series. I am enjoying it immensely, but it is in no danger of dethroning my 3 favorite series. Outlander, Fever and BDB are in no danger of being knocked off their pedestals. This will be mentally shelved lower down among my In Death books and Steph Plum.
