4.5 starsI was seriously impressed by this book. It was one that I just didn't want to put down. I haven't quite figured out yet why it was such a fun one for me. It has all those typical YA points. Hot guys, check. Girl who thinks herself awkward but everyone else thinks is hot, check. Paranormal plot that puts her in perilous danger, check. Best friend who is a little bit of a b*tch, check. But for all that, there was alot about this book that was worthy of noting. First, there will be spoilers coming up, so be careful... She didn't automatically go for the perfect stud muffin that all the girls are in love with. THe love kind of snuck up on you. I was expecting it to be just like the others where she takes one look at the male heartthrob and vows to love and adore him for the rest of her life. And it actually made you think that was going to happen. But it didn't, and what did happened actually proved to be immensely romantic and sweet. I will confess, I'm another of those readers who fell hard for Tucker. Even better, I thought it was really sweet that Christian was in love with Kay. I hope that they both get to be with the ones they love. I also like how the book seemed to have an ending, there wasn't a huge cliffhanger, but there is still alot of questions for the next installment, which I will be highly anticipating. I'm very very concerned about poor Jeffery. I also thought that the angel-blood world that Cynthia Hand created was clever. The idea that the halo around the head of an angel would be their glowing with the Glory was pretty darn clever. Without a doubt, anyone who is debating reading Hush, Hush should instead reach for Unearthly. They absolutely will not regret it. You can read those and get one interesting character and a weak storyline, or you can read this one and get a multitude of interesting characters and a plot worth your time.Unearthly defintely holds the Gold Spot for the Angel genre.
